Two Surgeries, Severe Leg Pain, Degenerative Arthritis

"I’ve been through two surgeries and had chips taken out in my L4/L5 vertebra due to degenerative arthritis four years ago. Before I started with Dr. DeGroot I would have to get out of the car every 50 miles to walk due to severe pain in my right leg. After going through Dr. DeGroot’s treatment plan I was able to ride in the car and get in and out of a chair without being in extreme pain. "Since March 10^th, 1999 I have seen Dr. DeGroot on a regular schedule. Prior to my visits I had been diagnosed by my orthopedic surgeon with a varying degree of spinal dysfunctions. At first it was recommended that I have a systematic approach of cortisone injections performed on my lower back in order to relieve pain. The procedure was performed and in less than a week the symptoms returned, including a flare-up of the sciatic nerve and its discomforting effects. Soon thereafter, in search for some relief from the constant pain, I chose to have surgery performed on the identified inflamed discs. This procedure was a total success for three weeks with the exact symptoms returning; pain and discomfort in the lower back along with periods of pain reaching into both of my legs. "I have arthritis and I had broken my left shoulder bone. I went to my primary care doctor and he told me there was nothing he could do for me and that I would just have to learn to live with the pain. I had limited mobility and could not lift my arm. "My daughter, who’s now 5 ½, has had a tremor in her hand since age 2. She would build with blocks and when she stacked them her hand would shake. Through her preschool teachers and Washington State IEP testing it was noted that penmanship was extremely difficult for her. When she would try and write, draw, or color anything she couldn’t do straight lines instead they would be curvy with a zigzag to it. I went to her regular doctor and talked to other professionals and no one could tell me why she had it or what was causing it. Her penmanship is drastically better and she gets really excited that she can stay in between the lines when she colors.
